Questions & Answers

What exactly is a Slogo anyway?

A Slogo is the combination of three main elements creatively blended to form a visual identity... a concept.

1) A LOGO. How do successful corporations establish worldwide recognition, convey stability, retain loyal customers, and stand out from the crowd? They use eye-catching logos that establish them as the brand name consumers can trust. You,Inc! can create a logo from your name to project positive, professional images of who you are and what you do, in the minds of your prospects.

2) A SLOGAN. Marketing statements like "Nike... Just do it." and "CocaCola... The Real Thing" are claims made by major corporations to help them establish differences between them and their competitors. Slogans don't need to be profound phrases no one has ever thought of before. They're purpose is to "sound good" and create memorability. Your slogan should be unique to you. For example — "Jeff Patterson... Your Best Move.", "Ask for Ann", or "Bank on Bass" are all good examples of personal slogans people will remember.

3) A PHOTO. On a scale from 1-1,000 — how many words is a picture worth? By creatively implementing your personal photo into your logo and slogan, you'll let your prospects know who you are in a big way. A personal photo can help make your name and your personal image synonymous with real estate.

What is the price for a Slogo?

A Slogo can range from $595 to more than $1,300 depending on certain variables. Our Keep-It-Simple (KIS) Slogos run a flat rate of $595.

One of the best benefits of our KIS Slogo Program, is that our clients know exactly how much they'll spend on their identity development before we begin. Traditional agencies charge by the hour. And, when they finally show you concept, you've already spent money. How much? It depends on how many hours they've spent. Is it worth it? It depends on if you like what they've created. Our KIS Slogo Program takes the guess-work out of the design process.

Another key benefit of ordering a KIS Slogo is that our clients know exactly what they're getting in advance. When our clients see something that appeals to them in our catalog or on our web site, they know they'll like the end result when we're finished.

Custom Slogos are offered on a "bid" basis only. Once we understand your marketing needs, we can provide a bid for you on request. Instead of charging by the hour, we enter into contract with you at a flat, pre-determined fee. You'll know what your actual invoice is before we begin.

How do I get started?

It's easier than you might think. The first task is really just deciding whether any of our Keep-It-Simple Slogos are right for you. Since KIS Slogos are quicker and easier to produce, and cost less than Custom Slogos, this is usually the best place to start. Just select the Slogo style you like best, tell us your marketing statement, then schedule an appointment with your photographer. For a step-by-step process of our KIS Slogo Program, go here.

If you're thinking our Custom Slogo Program is more along the lines of what you had in mind, please give us a call on our toll free line for a free, friendly consultation. Let us address any questions or concerns you might have. You can get detailed step-by-step information about the process at our Custom Slogo Program page.

Basically, three things need to occur for us to begin working on your project.

1) We need a completed and signed sales contract. Sometimes, it's easier to call our sales staff and ask them to fill it out and fax it to you. The contract can be a bit confusing, because we offer so many products and services. We can also help you make decisions on how many pieces to print for the best unit price, what messages to send in a postcard campaign, and how to layout a business card for maximum impact, for example.

2) The photos need to be taken. Don't wait! Schedule an appointment with a local photographer right away. You can print photo instructions to your printer, or have your photographer go to the web and verify that they can provide what we need. Once the photos have been taken, send them directly to us at our main office. You can get our correct mailing address at our contact page.

3) We require payment of 1/2 of the total amount on the sales contract to be paid by credit card or check before we begin. For more information you can visit our payment policy.

Once we receive these three items, we can begin working on your project. You'll begin to see results from within a few short weeks, depending on which program you select.

[top]

How long does it take?

A good estimate is 4 - 6 weeks for the KIS Slogo Program. From the time we begin the project to the time you receive products — count on no less than 4 weeks. Why? First, we can't even begin the project until we've received the three main items we need from you.

Once we begin, much of the process really depends on you. How quickly you respond to fax proofs and emails, and how available you are to contact, will help determine how quickly we can turn your project.

Since we really can't quarantee a specific completion date, we'd like you to be familiar with the process so you'll know what's happening behind the scenes. You can review a detailed step-by-step process of our KIS Slogo Program or our Custom Slogo Program to understand exactly what needs to take place.

What's the difference between a KIS Slogo and a Custom Slogo?

The main difference between our KIS (Keep-It-Simple) Slogo Program and our Custom Slogo Program is in our commitment to you and your commitment to us.

When you order a KIS Slogo, we'll create your Slogo based on one of our 9 award-winning designs. One photo scan is included in the price of the Slogo. You may choose to have additional photos scanned at an additional fee (per scan) and implemented throughout your marketing campaign to add visual interest. Consistency is crucial to the branding process, but additional photos used throughout your campaign, helps avoid having one image become too stale. With regard to your slogan, you are primarily responsible for letting us know what slogan you would like to use. Our designers are happy to make suggestions, but ultimately it's your responsibility.

When you order a Custom Slogo, we'll consult with you to understand who you are and what your marketing goals are. We'll help you analyze your particular market and offer insight to the best possible approach for maximum exposure and opportunity. Once we've had a chance to get to know you, we'll create 3 different Slogo concepts that will best suit you in your market. We'll give consideration to more details, like what slogan might work best, what photography should be used, and ultimately what messages you're communicating to your target audience.

We'll present three different Slogo concepts for you to choose from. If you're sold on one of them, we can move on to implementing it into your marketing campaign. If you'd like us to make modifications to a particular concept, just let our designers know and they'll be happy to accommodate. If you're not happy with any of our suggestions, we'll go back to the drawing board one more time to ensure we capture what you had in mind.

We reserve our Custom Slogo Program for clients in need of a comprehensive campaign. We require the minimum commitment of purchasing at least the following printed products: Business Cards, Letterhead, Envelopes and KIS Brochures, for all Custom Slogo orders.

Who takes the photos?

The best approach to getting good photography is simply to seek out a local studio with a good reputation. Some photographers are more experienced with portrait work, while others attract more commercial jobs. In our experience though, it's more important that they can accomodate a few basic requests we have, than it is the specific type of photography they usually do. Most studio photographers have the basic skills we need. The photo instructions provide you and your photographer with everything they'll need to accomodate the project.

Here are a few of the most important guidelines.

1) Hire a professional. Don't make the mistake of letting an amatuer photographer shoot your photos with a cheap camera and bad lighting. Take our word for it, you won't be happy with the end result.

2) Use a studio. One of the most important considerations when it comes to photography is lighting. The studio is the only place it can be controlled. Also, avoid any filters on the camera, like a soft-focus lens.

3) Use a white background. Since we'll be digitally removing your image, incorporating it into a Slogo and putting it on white paper, we'll need to have the background white. We still need to silohette the image using computer software, but the white background helps keep you looking natural.

4) Ask your photographer to use high quality cameras. We've had the best results with either "medium format" film positive, or high resolution digital cameras [5.5 megapixel or higher]. Remember, the better quality the original photos are, the better images we can print.

Do I get to see my Slogo before it's printed?

Certainly. You,Inc! will not print any marketing piece before we have your signed approval for that piece—beginning with the Slogo.

We have several ways we can show you proofs.

1) Fax. Ultimately, we need to receive a fax from you to ensure we have your signature approval to go ahead with printing. We'll always send a fax proof for every marketing piece you've purchased. We'll need your signature on each one.

2) E-Mail. Since faxes are not color, we'll send you an email version of your Slogo as well. However, since monitors display colors very differently, you'll see your Slogo differently than we will. More importantly, the email version of the Slogo will vary significantly from the finished printed piece. Use this proof to make "generalized" judgements on color.

3) On-line. Go to our on-line proofing center to view recent changes on your Slogo and different marketing pieces.

4) Matchprint. The only consistently accurate way to see exactly how your Slogo will look is to create a Matchprint proof. The process is time-consuming and the proofing materials are expensive, but a Matchprint proof can show you in advance, exactly what you'll get when your printed materials arrive. When you order a Custom Slogo, we'll send the initial concepts to you on a Matchprint proof. This allows you to see exactly what we're presenting, without color bias or compromise in any way. When you order a KIS Slogo, you can get a realistic idea of how your Slogo will look from the examples in our catalog. If you order a KIS Slogo, and need to receive a Matchprint proof, please allow an additional 3-5 days for processing. An additional $50 will be added to your invoice.

What if You,Inc! creates a Slogo for me and I don't like it?

One huge benefit of ordering a KIS Slogo is that if it appeals to you in our catalog and/or on our web site, chances are, you'll be thrilled with it when it's finished. That's because we'll create your Slogo based on one of our 9 award-winning KIS Slogo designs you've selected.

However, if for some reason you're not happy with the design of your Slogo, we'll simply determine what's bothering you about the design and fix it. If it's in the photo, we can digitally retouch it to improve it. If you need to retake the photos, we'll rescan them and plug them back into your Slogo. Whether it's color, scale, positioning, photography, typography or any other potential bother, we want to fix it. The bottom line is, we want you to be satisfied with our work.

When you order a Custom Slogo, we start with the information we've gathered about you and your market and present you with 3 different options that would serve you well. In the rare case that you're dissatisfied with all 3 options we present to you, we have a plan to resolve the issue. Steps 7,8 and 9 on our Custom Slogo Program offer more detailed information.

What is a setup fee?

A setup fee is a one-time charge we assign to the layout and design of a marketing piece. For example, once your Slogo is complete, we'll need to incorporate it into different marketing pieces to create your campaign. We'll apply your Slogo to your business cards, letterhead, envelopes, note cards, postcards — every printed product you order from us. The setup fees cover the layout of each marketing product, it's color separations, and proofing costs.

Let's say for example, you've ordered a Slogo, business cards, letterhead, envelopes, postcards and note cards to get your campaign started. The first setup fee is $90 — we'll assign that fee to layout your business cards, create proofs for you, and generate film separations for the printing process. The second setup fee would be applied to the letterhead and would be $70. The third setup fee would be $50 and would be applied to the envelopes. The fourth setup fee would go toward the fourth product — the postcards and would be $40. Once we hit the 5th product on your sales contract, we eliminate the setup fees altogether. So, essentially, you could order a house flyer, several different target cards, and a presentation folder and we'd layout each of those at no charge. We limit the amount of setup fees to no more than $250 on any given order.

Why? To encourage our clients to order everything they're going to need on one sales contract. This saves us time and effort by allowing us to layout, proof and color separate all the pieces at one time. And it saves you time and effort by limiting the amount of time you'll spend worrying about the details.

How do I calculate my total on the sales contract?

The answer is coming soon.

[top]

You,Inc!'s Payment Policy

If the total on your sales contract is more than $1,000, at least 1/2 of the balance is due up front, before we begin. We accept checks, money orders, and major credit cards. Just fill out the payment information at the bottom of the contract to let us know how you would like to pay. If the total is less than $1,000, we require payment in full before we begin. We will charge your credit card the same day we receive your signed sales contract whether by fax or mail. We will mail you an original credit card receipt.

Why do we bill in advance of you receiving product or design proof? Because as soon as we take your order, we begin work on your project and thereby incur costs.

The second 1/2 of the payment is due upon your signing the proof sheets. For each product you order, you will receive a proof sheet via fax showing exactly what we will print. When you sign the proof and fax it back, you're giving us your approval to print what is on the proof sheet. Once we receive your approval signature, we will automatically charge your credit card for the remaining balance and schedule the piece for printing. Your product may be delayed, and/or canceled, if we fail to receive final payment at the time of your approval.

You,Inc!'s Sales Contract is NON-CANCELABLE. It may not be broken without approval from You,Inc!
